Wishcasting Wednesday

What is your winter wish?

I used to like winter. But I do not find it so enjoyable anymore. The constant cold, the piles & piles of snow, the driving on bad roads, slush in my shoes...

However, I don't want to just "get through" winter again. I want to enjoy it.

I want to revel in the bite of the wind telling me I'm alive. I want to marvel at the beauty of snow covered landscapes, those lit by bright sun, dazzling under an impossibly blue sky, and those under dark grey clouds, sulky & foreboding. I want to make snowmen and snow angels, have snowball fights, and hide in snow forts. I want to delight in each individual unique snowflakes, and see the beauty in reddened cheeks.

I do not want to be bitter and cross because it's always grey and cold. I want to LIVE & FIND JOY IN THE MOMENT.

I had a love-hate relationship with winter when I lived where it snowed (one academic year in Boston!) as I was born and raised in Southern California, and a white Christmas meant fog! I can certainly see the dilemma, but I hope that you can reconcile the dislikes with the likes!

  3. It is possible too, even when you are exhausted from shoveling. My biggest peeve is that I *can't* do as much on sheer will power anymore. I have to rely on others for help. But when I am exhausted from the extra work of winter, I like the feeling of knowing that my body worked! Even frozen pipes remind me of being a little girl and dealing with the same things. I am glad that I lived in a rural environment back then and know what to do.

You're are right I too should try to embrace winter and not hide from it. I'm going to try to get out and by more physical and maybe cross country ski this year. Thanks for the push.
