While scrolling pinterest the other day I saw a few versions of a disclaimer.  They weren't very pretty and didn't say exactly what I would; so I made myself a pretty one (you can see the original here) and decided that if anyone else wants to use it they should have one without my signature.  Therefore I made this version!  ^-^  Please feel free to pin this and share with others!

Kind-Hearted Blogger Pledge

First, why am I still awake? Second, why am I not blogging the good things in my head? Well, one, because I'm staying up cuz my girlfriend is, and two, I'm too tired to think coherently! But I can read... And this... this moved me...

  • create, inspire, and admire rather than compete with fellow bloggers
  • be understanding of each other-- in the blogging community, as well as in the world
  • stay away from internet/blogging bullying
  • speak my opinion freely, while still being mindful of other's feelings-- be tactful.
  • make an effort--no matter how big or small the gesture, to spread kindness or joy to others
  • acknowledge that I will make mistakes, (I am only human) but remember to learn from them
  • know that at times I will post about the negative stuff in life, and maybe even some complaining (I am only human) but I will always follow up with something happy/positive too.
  • believe that this world is a good place, filled with good people.

Why is a Raven like a Writing Desk?

'Twas brillig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimbel in the wabe.
All mimsy were the borogoves and the mome raths outgrabe.

It was tea party time and the fairies were invited!
Honeyarm, Thurible of the Sanctuary, was serving, but seemed none too pleased about it.
She didn't approve of fairies. Or of Fairy *Tea*...

Get your own randomly generated names here!
And just for the record, it's sparkling cider, nothing hard!

No matter though, it was a perfect day for a tea party,
and the sun was shining brightly, as the three fairy girls sipped their *tea* in the ferny wood.

l to r: Tangle Rainbowdancer, Bramble Goblindancer, and Gossamer Silverdancer;
also known as Jo, Li, and Mi.

Get your own fairy name! Click here!

But then Honeyarm stopped serving them!
She left them with empty cups and craving more!
The fairy girls were most distraught!

So Bramble Goblindancer and her fairy sisters thought up a sneaky plan...
(And yes, you *must* use their FULL names each & every time or they will get angry!
And you never want to make a fairy angry!)

... to find the kitchen and serve themselves!

Bramble Goblindancer was clever...
She even managed to open the bottle with no cork screw or bottle opener!

And I was clever enough to get them to pose just once...
Although they still wouldn't show me how they fly with no wings;
They said it was just how their magic worked!

Things started getting crazy after that...
They were sitting on counter-tops and drinking far too much;
Bramble Goblindancer even started getting calls on her cup!

Then Gossamer Silverdancer decided she didn't want to share anymore,
leaving Tangle Rainbowdancer and Bramble Goblindancer with cups as empty as before,
and she drank so much, she couldn't stand up!

That was when Bramble Goblindancer said it was time to stop drinking *tea*
and time to head to the shore...
So she bid them adieu and flew off!

Tangle Rainbowdancer flew off after her,
but poor Gossamer Silverdancer had had too much tea and had to walk!
I must have been a little tipsy myself by this time... ^-^

A little splash in the cool water was just the thing to sober up Gossamer Silverdancer
(and me)!

And so the day dwindled, with much laughing and madness,
but as the fairies flew off with the setting sun, they thanked me for inviting them...

...and told me to share the gifts they left at home...
The gifts you left at home? I asked.
Yes, they'd send them along later, they said, but they were sure that we would love them!

Now you may think that you've gone mad, for how could the party be done and the sun have set when it's barely noon? Well in my world, nothing is what it is because everything is what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it isn't, and what it isn't, it is. You see?

No wonder you're late! Why, this watch is exactly two days slow.

Oh don't worry, even if you've gone completely bonkers. I'll tell you a secret.
All the best people are.

Leave a comment, here, today, for a chance to win a prize from the fairies!
I wish I knew what it was but they wouldn't say!

Edit 6/28:
The gifts from the fairies arrived today! See my latest post to find out what it was!

The Sunshine Award

A while back, Eugena's Creations gave me the Sunshine Award and I haven't found the time to blog about it until now! First of all you should definitely check her out, she is soooo creative! I wish I could get my clay to do that! ANY of that! LOL! Thank you, Eugena!

The Sunshine Blog Award is awarded to bloggers whose positivity and creativity inspire others in the blog world. And as with any blog award there are rules, and as I may have mentioned before, I am not much of a rule follower. :P But here they are nonetheless!

  • Put the logo on your blog or within your post. Check!
  • Share the love and link to the person from whom you received this award. Check!
  • Pass the award to 12 six bloggers. Hmmm... Some nominees have posted rules that say you have to pass it on to 12 and others say only 6... We shall see how many I can come up with...
  • Link the nominees within your post. But of course!
  • Let the nominees know they have received this award by commenting on their blog. Indubitably!
So let's see who I can come up with to pass this onto, who hasn't already received it...

  1. Naturally the blogger that inspires me the most is my beloved, Jacqueline, with her Not Your Typical Weight Loss Blog. Her positive & outside-the-box thinking are definitely inspiring!
  2. Then I'd have to say Vanessa at A Fanciful Twist inspires me with her magical photos and sunny attitude.
  3. Suzi Blu and her Lovely Dream is also a huge inspiration. She's crazy and wild and soooo creative!
  4. I can't forget to mention Sarah Von, who writes Yes and Yes; she is so upbeat all the time, and has the most unusual topics!
  5. I'd also like to add Marilyn the Toymaker to this list. She does the prettiest illustrations and shares so much!
  6. ...
  7. Ummm....
  8. I keep thinking of more people...
  9. but then I think they've already gotten this award...
  10. or don't do the whole blog award thing...
  11. ...So...
  12. That'll be all...
Thank you again, Eugena! And thank YOU, Sunshine Award nominees! ^-^ For all your inspiring positivity & creativity!

The Best of 2009

I am a little behind in doing this, but since I am still feeling a little down about things, I think doing this will help me see just how great I've got things here...

The Best of 2009 Blog Challenge

What is the challenge?

A look back on your year. A time for reflection. A chance to make new friends.

How to participate in 5 simple steps:

1. Write on one or all thirty-one of the prompts for the month of December

2. A post can be a sentence, photo or 3,000 word essay

3. Link up your blog or Twitter account at the link above (you'll find the prompts there too!)

4. Tag your posts and photos #best09.

5. Share your best moments of 2009 over the course of December. Don't get hung up on details or length - if there's an aspect of the question that doesn't resonate, change it to meet your needs.

December 1 Trip. What was your best trip in 2009?
We didn't take lots of trips, and NYC was lots of fun (Rockaway Beach, meeting Reid & Karen...), but taking the kids to ARGH, seeing the mountains, staying in that gorgeous cabin, meeting all those fun & friendly unschoolers... So. Much. Fun.

Roan Mountain State Park, Tennessee

December 2 Restaurant moment. Share the best restaurant experience you had this year. Who was there? What made it amazing? What taste stands out in your mind?
We don't go out to eat very often, so each time we do, it's very special, which makes it hard to choose the *best* from the past year. In March we did our annual St. Patty's Parade Day at the Dinosaur BBQ. Jacqueline & I join my mom, Aunt Sue, and Judy - other guests have come - and Ginny and her baby girl, Dawn, joined us this year. The food is always fantastic, and we always have a blast.

In May I took Jacqueline out to The Outback Steakhouse. We had a quiet dinner under the watchful gaze of an alligator, and the food was yummy as always. I can't remember what we had, but it's always so good!

But if you make me choose, then I'll have to say when we took the kids out to Raging River BBQ after Pagan Pride Day. Again, I don't remember everything we had, but it was all very tasty, especially the Fried Pickle Chips; they were definitely better than I expected! And we hardly ever get to take all the kids out all together.

December 3 Article. What's an article that you read that blew you away? That you shared with all your friends. That you Delicious'd and reference throughout the year.
Hmmm... that's not something I usually do. But back in July, I posted something that I've tried to keep in mind about Blogging without Obligation and being Authentic, all prompted by this poem.

December 4 Book. What book - fiction or non - touched you? Where were you when you read it? Have you bought and given away multiple copies?
Most books I read, are not books I own. I don't have the kind of income, or storage space, where I can just purchase books willy-nilly; so we go to the library every few weeks and check out a bajillion books. Thankfully the library we visit has a great online site, and we can put books on hold there from the entire system which is county-wide. Anyway, there's been no buying or giving away of even one copy! LOL! And I read mostly at home, in bed, before going to sleep.

The book I am reading right now, Eat Pray Love, is good, funny & moving, and the books by Sophie Kinsella that I read this year (Remember Me? and Confessions of a Shopaholic) were pretty good, IMHO. Chocolat really moved me, but the book that touched me the most was Esmerelda Little Flame's Temple of the Twelve, "a spiritual fairy tale" that "transcends all differences between various paths of Pagan spirituality and unifies them all."

December 5 Night out. Did you have a night out with friends or a loved one that rocked your world? Who was there? What was the highlight of the night?
Our nights out are few and far between. We're both homebodies for the most part, and we don't have much extra money for going out, but we were lucky enough to have a few night's out this past year. The best was probably the Diversity Rules Benefit Show.

December 6 Workshop or conference. Was there a conference or workshop you attended that was especially beneficial? Where was it? What did you learn?
I only went to one conference this year, ARGH at Roan Mountain State Park, and it was fantastic. The workshops were mostly for things I already knew, but I still learned a lot: I learned that I don't like driving at night, particularly on roads I don't know, to the point it makes me frantic and panicky. I learned that I have a fear of heights when driving as well (not as a passenger or on my feet). I learned that there are people who feel the same way about school as I do. I learned our kids are well behaved even in the midst of other home & unschooled kids. I learned that there are people out there who won't judge me for my relationship, religion, income, or anything else. I learned I want to go again, maybe even move somewhere where there are more people like that...

More tomorrow! If you're playing along, let me know! I'd love to read your Best of 2009!
