Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday! This week, we celebrate United Nations Day on Friday the 26th. I remember getting little UNICEF boxes as child to fill with change and return to school and I vaguely remember something in the history books about the UN, but to be honest, I never gave them much thought. But the United Nations does a lot of good work "maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations and promoting social progress, better living standards and human rights." (http://www.un.org/en/aboutun/index.shtml)

So here is my Mosaic Monday Bunday salute to the UN, including pieces from or inspired by the original 5 countries to join and a few of the more recent members.  (Yes, there were other more recent members to join, but I couldn't find anything suitable on Etsy.)

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!

This week we're reminding you to wear PURPLE on Friday, October 19th to show support for LGBT youth who are victims of bullying.  This is Ally Week when LGBT youth all over will identify, support, and celebrate their Allies in standing up to anti-LGBT language, bullying, and harassment.  GLAAD.org has lots of ways you can get involved, and actions you can take RIGHT NOW; just click here to go to GLAAD.org's Spirit Day page.

And in case you need some ideas on how to bring some purple bunny-licious style on Friday, whether man, woman, or child, we've got what you need right here (the middle one is my par-TIQUE-yoo-lar fave ^-^)...

Mosaic Monday Bunday

Welcome back to another Mosaic Monday Bunday!  In case you weren't aware, October is LGBT History Month as well as National Bullying Prevention Month.  These are topics very close to my heart.  There are two days that occur this week, and one next week that support these causes: 
  • Wednesday the 10th is Unity Day, when we wear ORANGE to show our support for those who have been bullied and band together to put an end to it.
  • Thursday the 11th is National Coming Out Day, when we celebrate LGBT individuals coming out and openly being themselves to raise awareness of the LGBT community & civil rights movement.
  • Friday the 19th is Spirit Day, when we wear PURPLE to show our support for LGBT youth who have been bullied and to stand up against it.

I'll be writing more about my own experiences with this later in the month (to be published on the Queer Etsy Street Team's blog), but I wanted at least one Mosaic Monday Bunday to pay tribute to these very important issues.  So here it is, a rainbow of bunnies and rainbows, who shine with their love and unique selves...  ^-^

Smithfits Bazaare Emporium

Who here loves Steampunk?  I know I do!  All those gears and shiny brass bits...  ^-^  So pretty!

The Smithfits Bazaare Emporium

Their creative name comes from their celebration of all their unique quirks and differences, like on the Island of Misfit Toys from the Christmas special, "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer," and that they are an Emporium and Bazaar selling a bizarre selection of goods!  As they say, "Each piece is a truly unique, one-of-a-kind item; a individual work of art."
