What's the Scoop?

What's the Scoop is a division of Paper Popsicles; they are just starting out and are having a giveaway to celebrate! If you're not familiar with Paper Popsicles, they are an online store with lots of great scrapbooking downloads, like digital stamps and card templates, and actual products, like alphabet stickers, adhesives, and Shimmerz, which are beautiful iridescent, waterbased, non-toxic paints. I can't wait to buy some!


Anyway, What's the Scoop is their blogaroo and will be featuring swaps, craft ideas, freebies, and a gallery! Obviously they're having giveaways too! And the first one is going on now, but you gotta enter by 4pm CST TODAY! I am sorry I didn't mention it sooner, but I just found out myself!

DigiDare Scrapping

So I spent today doing some digital scrapbooking. With all the photo editing I've done, I've never really done it, but when the ladies over at DigiDare offered a whole kit to anyone who even tried, I thought I'd give it a shot! It was fun! Now, if only I had a better computer so PSP wouldn't keep crashing on me, and a better printer so I could print it out! ^-^

Here's the challenge:

• 3 Photos in 3 different shapes (circle, rectangle, and heart)
• 3 Papers (polka dots, dots & stripes, and lined)
• 3 matching elements somewhere on the page (3 groups of 3 rhinestones)
• 3 different alphas (I think I used 3x2 different alphas! ^-^)
• 3 spots of journaling (Yup!)
• Extra credit for those who take the THREE theme and run with it even further! (Well, it's his 3-Month birthday, and their are 3 items in each of the groups of rhinestones; does that count?)

It stumped me for a while - what to scrap - but then I remembered that Benji-boo just had his 3 month birthday! Perfect! So I found some great pis of him having a bottle from each month, et voilà!



I love how it turned out! If anyone wants to know about any of the papers or elements or anything, let me know, and I'll post the details. Otherwise, I'm gonna be lazy and not do it. XD

Sweet 16 Layouts

So I finally did some scrapping. I had found all those old pics (OMG I just found 2 more boxes!!!), and wanted to do a few pages. The first was for a telephone challenge on one of my scrapping groups. TONS of fun! The 2nd is the flips side of the page. Yeah, I could have done a 2 page spread, but I didn't want to... :P

Leftover Photos

No idea what to do with them? You know the ones I mean, the one where Uncle Al had his dentures out, the out-of-focus blurry ones, the ones of that random place you can't remember anymore... heck... maybe those pics of your ex? Of course you could just toss them - or burn them in a moving and freeing ritual - but how about repurposing them? Taking those trashy old photos and making them into beautiful art... Sound intriguing?

Then you have got to check out this little tutorial: Upcycled Photo Tutorial. So easy and fun - and to think, we all once had issues with cropping! XD

New Use for Old Scrappin' Stuff

Add wings to your polymer clay creations!  ^_^  I picked an old paper I loved, made butterfly wings, used UTE powder & glitter, cracked it after it cooled, added gems & fibers, glued it to the back of a bunny mermaid, and stuck a magnet on the back!  I see those scraps disappearing fast!

Bits & Pieces...

Do you know how I remember how to spell piece? (Yes, I do sometimes need mnemonic devices, not the point here...) You always take a PIEce of PIE, yes all that I before E stuff just didn't sink in... I am forever getting confused on those!

Last night I was lucky enough to snag a piece of rhubarb pie. *BLISS* I love rhubarb pie! I love it best with vanilla ice cream or cool whip, but it's been so long since I had it, that I was just happy to be having it at all. Nevermind that I also had several brownies and lots of fruit and even some fried dough! Yes, I had *real food* too: a hamburger, baked beans, potato salad, tomato and cucumber salad, and even some cheese cubes. We had a great time and the bugs were practically non-existant! Of course I paid for the bad eating with overnight indigestion, but I knew it was coming and it was worth it. It's not like an every day occurrence.

Wait, I think I got off on a tangent... I keep doing that lately.

Hey have you checked out the new challenge for {stay}cation? I need to do the first *AND* second one now... I am planning a picnic for our [stay]cation, and I am for defs gonna use this website for some new and exciting ideas: 101 20-Minute Dishes for Inspired Picnics. Many thanks to PopFiend for linking me! (He also linked me to iDose and Creating a Life Plan, which I plan to explore more thoroughly when I have time...

But right now... well... We've moved the king sized mattress that we got from FreeCycle into the bedroom, and I think it's going to be a permanent thing. Sleeping on it the past 2 night has been pretty good for me, but I can't get into my bottom dresser drawer right now! LOL! (If anyone as a king sized platform bed frame lying about, we'd be happy to take it off your hands if you're not too far away...) So anyway, I've got some work to get done! Ta-ta for now! ^_^

I made a few new things from clay this week, and I've been reading a lot of books on *how-to*... like draw things, and paint with watercolors, and make different things from polymer clay... but scrapping and papercrafts, I've done none!

You could use all different kinds of cards: antique playing cards, novelty playing cards, tarot cards, maybe even ATCs, or business cards! And you could make it a mini-scrapbook album or write a poem in it or you could make it into an ATC album thingy!!!

Sunday Scrappin'

No, I'm not, I just wish I was... :\

So I've decided to play along with Amy and the others and take the Sunday Scrappin' challenge! ^_^


Since this is my firt week, I've got no TA-DAs from last week, but my TO-DO for this week is take Amy's challenge and DO SOMETHING WITH LACE! The challenge may be optional, but it's simple, and just the thing I need to get my butt in gear.

So how about you guys? Working on anything good? Wanna take the challenge with me?

Scrappy Happenings

So it's June first everyone! Happy soon-to-be-summer! In case you weren't aware, there were a few scrappy happenings today:

• The first was that a whole new batch of PageMaps just came out. As usual the website is MOBBED and their servers are having a hard time keeping up, but tomorrow should be a little better if you want to download the PDF of all their great sketches.


• Also, Scrapbook Dimensions put up their free desktop wallpaper of the month. You get to add your own photo, and don't worry about giving them your email, I only get one newsletter a month and it reminds me to go check out the wallpaper!


• And last but not least, pcCrafter has a new font to download for the month: PC Chalk for June.

Yesterday was our first trip to Flat Rock of the season and the water was FRIGID! We're talking toe-numbing cold! But the girls - those bone thin little things - all got in and fully submerged at least once each! JoAnn did it like three times!!! Of course, it was hot & sunny at home but the minute we headed up to the lake it started to get overcast and was raining by the time we got there. We didn't let that stop us though! After the girls thoroughly froze themselves, and Ant & I numbed our toes (Note: Jacqueline was the only one smart enough to not even bother trying.), we all headed back home, under a sunny blue sky! :P Anyway, I can't wait to scrap the pics; here are a few of the best:Click for full-size...

Today, we went to the Super Walmart grocery shopping. OMG... I think the entire city of Fulton was there... We were so on sensory overload by the time we left, we nearly killed each other. We didn't though, and we treated ourselves to an impromptu picnic in the closest cemetery with one of those scrumptious Subway subs split 3 ways, between Jacqueline, Lia, and I.

When we got home it was practically time for Jacqueline to start dinner. She grilled hangaburgs over a wood fire, and they were SOOOOO good. I hurt my foot though, in a dumb way of course. We decided to move the grill a bit after she started the fire, and silly me went out barefoot to help. Of course, a few hot coals slipped out the bottom without us noticing when we moved it, and well, I stepped on one. I stepped on it good and long before the heat made it through my callouses, but it doesn't appear damaged, just feels sore. :\

Well, I am off to bed for the night. I am hoping to put up a sketch tomorrow and maybe a LO based on it... We'll see how work goes! Nighterz!

I had no idea I had lined both of those ribbons up exactly the same...!

Anyway, I seem to have misjudged the sizes of my flowers and buttons so on one I used a gem instead. So many other fun ways to mix up the sketch! If you use it, I'd love to see your results! Just leave a link in the comments here or there... Thanks for looking!

Crock Pot Recipe Sign Ups - CLOSED

Just an FYI that this swap has now closed.

Crock Pot Recipe Swap!

Last call for sign-ups!  I will be closing them at noon tomorrow and posting final details at that time!

 

Your mission:  Create an 8 1/2 x 11 scrapbook page for each member of the swap of your favorite crock pot recipe.

 

Sign ups for this swap will be open for one week until February 2nd.  Final details will be sent at that time, including total pages to make and address to mail your pages to.

 

You will have until Tuesday, February 19th to pop them in the mail to me.  I will send them back out as soon as I have everyone's package.

 

Please remember to include a return address label and at least the same amount of postage as you needed to send your package out.  For example, if you spend $1.60 to mail your pages, drop stamps, well hidden cash, or a money order equal to or greater than $1.60 in your envie (or you can paypal it to me).  If you want your package returned priority, include enough for that.  I will of course return any unneeded postage.  I plan on using the envie you send your pages in to return your pages to you.

 

If you'd like to sign up, email me (off-list so we don't overload anyone's email: bunnykissd (at) gmail.com) with what your contribution will be; if there are several people wanting to do the same thing, I may request that you chose something else, but there are so many ideas floating around, I bet that won't happen!  I can't wait to see what you all create!  ^_^
