Wishcasting Wednesday

Jamie asks, "What do you wish for your well-being?"

At the moment, I wish in particular to heal the nerve damage I did to my ulnar nerve. Take your left hand off your face everyone! Stop sitting that way before you get tingly fingers too... ^o^

Now how else is well-being described...?

well-being n. The state of being healthy, happy, or prosperous.

Well, I wish eating low carb was easier and tastier, and I wish for more income to *come in* so we have money to pay bills and still have fun this summer! Those are the things I wish for my well-being today.

afiori

One of the beautiful things about this Mad Tea Party is that I get to visit all these other blogs and see their wonderful art. Just now I discovered *afiori* - just the name calls to mind beautiful Italian flowers - and the blog and shop are both full of soft dreamy photos of flowers and far away places...

Images from afiori on etsy....

Don't forget to check our her blog too!

Why is a Raven like a Writing Desk?

'Twas brillig and the slithy toves did gyre and gimbel in the wabe.
All mimsy were the borogoves and the mome raths outgrabe.

It was tea party time and the fairies were invited!
Honeyarm, Thurible of the Sanctuary, was serving, but seemed none too pleased about it.
She didn't approve of fairies. Or of Fairy *Tea*...

Get your own randomly generated names here!
And just for the record, it's sparkling cider, nothing hard!

No matter though, it was a perfect day for a tea party,
and the sun was shining brightly, as the three fairy girls sipped their *tea* in the ferny wood.

l to r: Tangle Rainbowdancer, Bramble Goblindancer, and Gossamer Silverdancer;
also known as Jo, Li, and Mi.

Get your own fairy name! Click here!

But then Honeyarm stopped serving them!
She left them with empty cups and craving more!
The fairy girls were most distraught!

So Bramble Goblindancer and her fairy sisters thought up a sneaky plan...
(And yes, you *must* use their FULL names each & every time or they will get angry!
And you never want to make a fairy angry!)

... to find the kitchen and serve themselves!

Bramble Goblindancer was clever...
She even managed to open the bottle with no cork screw or bottle opener!

And I was clever enough to get them to pose just once...
Although they still wouldn't show me how they fly with no wings;
They said it was just how their magic worked!

Things started getting crazy after that...
They were sitting on counter-tops and drinking far too much;
Bramble Goblindancer even started getting calls on her cup!

Then Gossamer Silverdancer decided she didn't want to share anymore,
leaving Tangle Rainbowdancer and Bramble Goblindancer with cups as empty as before,
and she drank so much, she couldn't stand up!

That was when Bramble Goblindancer said it was time to stop drinking *tea*
and time to head to the shore...
So she bid them adieu and flew off!

Tangle Rainbowdancer flew off after her,
but poor Gossamer Silverdancer had had too much tea and had to walk!
I must have been a little tipsy myself by this time... ^-^

A little splash in the cool water was just the thing to sober up Gossamer Silverdancer
(and me)!

And so the day dwindled, with much laughing and madness,
but as the fairies flew off with the setting sun, they thanked me for inviting them...

...and told me to share the gifts they left at home...
The gifts you left at home? I asked.
Yes, they'd send them along later, they said, but they were sure that we would love them!

Now you may think that you've gone mad, for how could the party be done and the sun have set when it's barely noon? Well in my world, nothing is what it is because everything is what it isn't. And contrary-wise; what it is it isn't, and what it isn't, it is. You see?

No wonder you're late! Why, this watch is exactly two days slow.

Oh don't worry, even if you've gone completely bonkers. I'll tell you a secret.
All the best people are.

Leave a comment, here, today, for a chance to win a prize from the fairies!
I wish I knew what it was but they wouldn't say!

Edit 6/28:

Wishcasting Wednesday

Jamie asks, "What fun do you wish to have?"

Oh Jamie, how perceptive you are this week... seeing into my heart and knowing that with the summer upon us, FUN is all I have on my mind. It comes with plenty of free time for this substitute teacher, but also a slowing of funds for things like gas and parking and admission to state parks and beaches and campgrounds, which are the fun things I am wishing for this summer.

To be able to not worry about the few extra dollars in gas to visit the lakeside nearly daily, or the cost of parking to visit the state parks near-by, or to even have enough funds to make it to a campsite with the kids for a weekend or two throughout the summer, AND have enough to pay the necessities like rent & electricity & internet, and maybe even the NetFlix... That's the kind of FUN I wish for...

Lazy days, sun and waves, picnic lunches & dinners, swimming, chapters read in the sun-dappled shade, THOUSANDS of pictures, and art by the armload! WORRY FREE. No worry about whether we're going to bounce checks, no worry about if the car is going to make it, no worry that I won't be able to make the kids happy enough.... That's the kind of fun I wish for...

Drawing Day 2010

Drawing Day 2009

Today is Drawing Day!

And because it's Drawing Day, guess what I'll be doing?

That's right! Drawing! How did you ever guess? ^-^

Anyway, more than just drawing, I am going to be making a quick video to show my drawing process!

So stay tuned, my little bunnies!

ETA:
Sadly, I cannot seem to get Windows Movie Maker to properly render the video. I will need to do some more research on the problem and upload the video later...

Meanwhile, here's the picture that I draw, and painted, in the video...

QuEST Charity Shop

Well, since I've been posting a lot of pictures and paid posts lately, I'd thought I'd take a moment to share a link with you all to one of my favorite Etsy Street Team shops: http://QueerEtsyStreetTeam.etsy.com/

Now you might think this is just someplace we all add a few items to get the word out about out team, like many other teams do - there's not thing wrong with that - but we've decided to make our team shop a way for us all to give back to the community, and 100% of our profits go to the charity we have chosen.

Right now, all the money we make, minus Etsy & PayPal fees, is going to The Trevor Project. It is the first and only nationwide, around-the-clock helpline for gay, lesbian, bi, transgender, and questioning youth in the US. The project was named for the title character in the 1994 Academy Award-winning short film, Trevor, a comedy/drama about a gay 13-year-old boy, who, teased by so-called friends for being gay, attempted to take his life.

When HBO went to air it in 1998, the producers decided to post a phone number for a gay teen suicide hotline after the movie aired, in case others were facing the same kind of crisis. As one of our other team members said, "There was only one problem: There wasn't one."

Thus The Trevor Project was born. That was the biggest shock for me: that something like it hadn't been born in amidst the AIDS crisis of the 80s, that it took until the late 90s for anyone to even *THINK* that his might be needed. Today, in addition to the hotline (which can be reached at 866-4-U-TREVOR or 1-866-488-7386), The Trevor Project provides information, support, and resources for educators & parents as well as GLBT youth.

Won't you please help us help them ensure the safe and healthy future of our youth? Shop the Queer Etsy Street Team Shop and donate today!

Swimming in May!

About a week ago we went swimming, and although everyone else got in, I was too chicken... I got sprayed by waves and waded up to my knees or so, but it was COLD! I did get some great family photos though! Here's some of the best pics:

Jacqueline got a new suit a few months back; now it's too big!

And I haven't found a new suit yet, but I'm going be *swimming* in mine too soon!

Lia got in first, but I am not sure if she was ready!

Ant & Jacqueline splash about...

Here are the girls!

A dramatic shot with the sunset behind us...

Another dramatic one; can you tell I posed us?

Chillin' at Flatrock...

I think Ant was getting sick of the picture taking by this time...

Lia jumps...

Esme hovers...

and JoAnn flies...
