Words of Wisdom

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.
~ Al Franken, "Oh, the Things I Know", 2002

Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes.
~ Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC)

Assert your right to make a few mistakes. If people can't accept your imperfections, that's their fault.
~ Dr. David M. Burns

A life spent making mistakes is not only more honorable, but more useful than a life spent doing nothing.
~ George Bernard Shaw (1856 - 1950)

Thank you, Julie, for posting this...

Secret Lab Map

In order to get the chocolate cybunny one must visit the Lab Ray. So I guess I need the map after all... So here are the pieces I have (highlighted green, no numbers) and the ones I need (numbered). If anyone has some pieces they're not going to use, I'd be happy to take them off your hands! ^_^

My Art

I can't help it... You guys are going to hate me... But I couldn't wait to show you all! ^_^ Look what I finished today!

She's so much better than I expected, after yesterday's drawing fiasco (when she looked like either Celine Dion or Cher) and today well she went from looking Caucasian (redraw I did) to Asian (first painting) to Greek (final)... SO MUCH PERFECT!!! Seriously, check that link in my Twitter, I wasn't aiming for that, but that's what she looks like... Don't you think?
Persephone Pomegranate Into the Underworld

Pomegranate Seeds Three

Oh! And I finished my Cornucopia and the Rubik's Cube Antonio started to make and decided not to finish...

And these pictures really do suck, the table is almond colored and the lights are all yellow... the color is all off... But I love her so much I might never send her to, mermaiden!

Latest creation...

So I made this pomegranate pendant with the intention of painting the face of Persephone in the opening... I can *see* it in my head... But I wanted to draw her before trying to paint her, or she would not look how I want....
Pomegranate Pendant
So I started drawing her. And I did a lovely job drawing a woman...
Both
The problem is that the picture I have drawn looks like Celine Dion... For a while she looked like Hilary Clinton or Cher! But it is definitely NOT what I wanted Persephone to look like. >.<

That's drawing of an upper-middle-aged, Type-A-personality woman! NOT a slightly sad, cold, gothic, YOUNG woman, daughter of Demeter, the Mother of All... :::le sigh:::
Please excuse the blurry pictures, my camera doesn't take such good close-ups, and the batteries for Esme's are on the charger...

365-39

I spent hours making this all fancy, with a blacked out background, angel wings, glowy purple aura... yeah, turned out crappy so I deleted it and started over. Looks much better...

Yeah... way to waste the day again...

Anyway, this is my favorite outfit. The skirt doesn't fit me right and even though I've added a cord to tie it tight, it frequently comes undone and falls down... >.< Oops! And my favorite tank top. The neck is too wide and it never stays up, but I still love it.

Glamorkins!

My lovely friend Mermaiden has done it again! She creates the most adorable pendants and now has begun making beaded necklaces, bracelets, and earrings with them as well! Check out her shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5818820

Starswolf, I saw these and thought of you! (Not sure if you wear earrings or if they're your style, but I love them! ^_^)

365-36 through 38

Oops, I've been forgetting to post... I guess I've just been stressed about other things...

Monday - 365-36

Tuesday - 365-37
OMG I didn't get one... >.<

Wednesday - 365-38

I hope that this makes up for missing one... You'll note that it's all but a few of the pics I took of myself today, strewn about like in one of those curio tabletops, with some paper clips and a pencil and even some coins for prosperity... ^_^ Oh, and if you look carefully I put a reflection of me taking a pic of the whole darn thing, as if in the glass that covered it. Damn. I futzed about with that for nearly 3 hours! So much for a quick pic, eh?

365-30, The Meme Edition

You Are the Innovator
You're the type of person who is always a step ahead of everyone else.
You thrive when you're experimenting with new designs, ideas, and attitudes.

You are a creative person with many talents. You have to have artistic outlets in your life.
You need to create - whether it's writing furiously or redecorating your home. If not, your life becomes chaotic.

You tire of doing the same thing every day. You change your job, friends, and personal style often.
You are at your best when you have a focus. If not, you develop a flaky artist's temperament.

See my innovative style of photography this time? I have this old holiday decoration that I use for feng shui purposes (not even sure if it's in the right place to be honest) hung from the shelf over my computer. There I am in it! ^_^

365-29

It's been a very long tiring day... Ok, so it wasn't very long since I slept FOREVER last night, but it was full of art making... But no math, so I feel kinda guilty... I'm off to bed now... Nighterz!

Neopets

I have been so busy with a million other things that I haven't had time to visit Neopets much, but I got some time today...

The Jelly Keeper says 'Remember... only one helping per day!'

You take some Smelly Jelly!!! Congratulations!

Ew! Smelly jelly??? That just looks disgusting...

OMG did you know I got a warning from the Neopets team? I wanted to advertise the Meerca I had won and decided to sell on eBay; so I read and reread over & over and had Jacqueline read it and we couldn't see how this would be against the rules. And I didn't even post a link, just said it was on eBay, my seller name, and that it was the only one up. And they sent me a *warning* that I wasn't allowed to post links to ANY offsite places. Meh. I sent them a polite letter back through their comment thing, but I'll never hear back. I hope they don't ever freeze me for something stupid. I love my pets...

Mermaid Dreams

Oh how I wish I could go swimming...

Math is funny...

I was doing some studying about the closure axiom, and the person writing mentioned the square root of 2 and wrote it sqrt(2). Of course, I read it SQUIRT(2)... For a minute I was confused... OMG new concept! What's squirt(2)??? ROTFLMBO!

New Articles from Jacqueline!

It's back to school time, and she's got advice for teachers and parents!

First-Year Teachers: Why You Need a Survival Drawer - Even if you're not a first-year teacher, this article has some good advice on why you should have a Survival Drawer. Think of it as something akin to a first aid kit or roadside emergency kit...

Back to School: Ten Reasons to Keep Your Children Home This Year - Yes, you read that right! One might think it contradictory to write articles for teachers and for unschoolers, but it's not. Jacqueline's intent is to improve circumstances for all children, whether in school or not.

365-22

Since I am not so experienced drawing angels I felt I needed to really draw what I wanted to paint before starting. Mind you I don't paint as well as I draw, so the tiles, might not look anything like this when I am finished... That's just how art works! LOL! And yes, I used a book by Stephanie Pui-Mun Law for reference...

365-21

That's me getting eaten alive by mosquitoes (hence the scrunched up face) while attempting a few shots of my latest creation, which of course you can see at my etsy shop...

That's where I take almost all the shots for my shop; I love the weathered driftwood that the chair is made of. Yes, driftwood! A whole bunch of *lumber* washed up on shore and the old downstairs neighbors of ours made an Adirondack chair & loveseat for our shared firepit. When they moved out, they left them both; so we brought the chair here when we left! I wish we had gotten the loveseat too; it was much more comfy...

Update

Wow... Seems like lately all my posts have been 365-pics... Sorry about that... But I have an excuse! I've been really busy making ART! Hehehe...

I've been drawing and painting and playing with my polymer clay a lot lately, and I've been taking online courses, so I've been busy with that. If you want to check out the things I have up for sale, you can always check my Etsy shop and I do have a few things on eBay (seller name BunnyKissd, big surprise). Later I'll be uploading some things to my DA and I've also got some empty scrapbooking albums up for sale on craigslist... We've also opened a CaféPress shop with one of Esme's beautiful mermaid watercolors... Oh and if anyone is into jello molds, check out Jacqueline's Etsy shop where she has tons of vintage copper & cast iron stuff!

I keep meaning to work on the {stay}cation challenges, but totally seem to run out of time during the day! I've been up til after midnight almost every night for the past month! I need to start getting to bed sooner...

365-20

Ooo look! I'm posting before midnight! ^_^

Sluggy Freelance rocks!

365-19

*singing* Oops I did it again! I played with your heart... Got lost in the game...

Oh sorry... got carried away there... hehehe...

I almost forgot...

And look! It's official!

I'm a student again! XD

(Yes I know it's not a recent pic, but they didn't give me a chance to take a new one; I had to do it RIGHT NOW! So I sent the best pic I could find... At least it's a nice one! ^_^)

FOAMY!

GUMMI BEARS FOR THE DEAD! ^_^

Clicky to see!

Yes, even the dead like candy...

Indeed.

365-18

Since I am posting, I might as well do this now! ^_^

My mom used to recite this little poem to me:

There was a little girl
Who had a little curl
Right in the middle of her forehead;
And when she was good
She was very, very good,
But when she was bad she was horrid.

I still think of it quite often... ^_^

365-17

Sorry this one's not going to be shown here... You'll have to get an LJ account and add me to your friends list... Just too private, and no, there is no nudity... :P

Neopets!

Today's random theme is: Glitter!

So cool! They have new glittery candies at the Chocolate Shop, and a glittery background, and glittery soap.... YAY GLITTER! ^_^

My List

See that list?  See where I left off?  I ran out of steam and never posted my 365 pic last night...  So after I wake up a bit more - yes I know it's almost noon, but I've been staying up entirely too late - I'll post that, and we have some pics for Faerie Gardens Family Fotoblog. Then it's a chat for school, then cleaning off this desk and working on some art... :::sigh::: I better get started!

BREATH DEEP

OMG right now I have so much to do! And I am so not organized! How did this happen??? My desk is like covered with piles a foot deep! The kitchen table is covered with half-finished craft projects! I have a bunch of *modules* to work on for school! I have a bunch of chats and conference calls and phone calls I'm scheduled to do, but I haven't got them written where I can see them! GAH! I need a list! OMG!!! *hyperventilates*

New Use for Old Scrappin' Stuff

Add wings to your polymer clay creations!  ^_^  I picked an old paper I loved, made butterfly wings, used UTE powder & glitter, cracked it after it cooled, added gems & fibers, glued it to the back of a bunny mermaid, and stuck a magnet on the back!  I see those scraps disappearing fast!

eBay

Man I feel like one big commercial lately... sell-Sell-SELL!

Anyway, for you Neopets players out there, I have won one of only 1000 5" Authentic Collector Red Meerca Plush, and was hoping to win the Green Cybunny. I've offered a trade on the Neopets forums with no takers, so I am selling it on eBay. If you're interested, take a look!

Waterspouts!

Today, Jacqueline & I went to run errands. We left here about 11:30 and our first stop was the post office. As I was getting back in the car, I looked over the river to the north-east and exclaimed, "OMG a tornado!" (We now know that it's just a funnel cloud until it touches ground, then it becomes a tornado.) Jacqueline wasn't so sure what it was, but I had to drive closer to get a better look anyway! The one I saw first was the best on that had formed, from high in the clouds to below the tree line, but we didn't get any pics of that one.

From an old issue of St. Nicholas Magazine for Boys and Girls, September 1878 (the best time of year for seeing them!)...

We did get some though!

I was worried this would be the only one we got! (I had to circle the funnel so you could see it.)

Here's another one right in the middle behind the horse drawn carriage...

Kites and a funnel cloud! Yeah, no one thought much about them...

This one is heading around a curve...

And this is the start of a water spout!  Right in the middle, look under the funnel cloud, see the water?

There it goes!  A bunch of people with better cameras came running past us at this point; hopefully they get better pics!

Here's one right in front of us as we headed back to the car...

See it curving down?  And those fishermen in boats never even stopped fishing!

Then we headed to the store, where the power went out for about 30 seconds - SCARY DARK! When we finished and headed home, we noticed not everyone was so lucky with the power, as it was out for several blocks closer to the river, and when we got home, this is what we found:

AT 1214 PM EDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED
SHOWERS AND SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING ALL ALONG THE
LAKESHORE FROM ROCHESTER TO MEXICO BAY. THIS ACTIVITY WAS MOVING
LITTLE AND WILL REMAIN IN PLACE THROUGH AT LEAST 2 PM. CONDITIONS
ARE CONDUCIVE FOR WATERSPOUT DEVELOPMENT WITH LITTLE OR NO ADVANCE
WARNING. SEEK SAFE HARBOR IF A WATERSPOUT IS SPOTTED.

How cool is that?! It was quite an adventure for us! ^_^
